While for most people gambling is a recreational activity which does not cause any relevant harm, a minority of gamblers faces him/herself with serious problems as result of their gambling activity. Negative consequences of gambling include physical and mental health issues, relationship and family conflicts, financial problems, potential criminal activities etc. In the past few decades, however, different measures were introduced to reduce these possible harms. These include different responsible gambling interventions that are designed to increase the safety of gambling, identifying, and helping those at risk. The current lecture presents these approaches and discusses their effectiveness and other characteristics.
